Compare the Backgammon board layout, the Checkers and the Chess board layout to the Chebache game board layout. The Backgammon board layout & setup is shown below along with the direction of movement for the Backgammon pieces (blots).
The Backgammon board setup is such that pieces are placed in groups, spead out along their path of movement in lines of 5, 3 and 2 blots each.

||
The Chess board layout and Checkers board layout are essentially the same, but the the setup of the pieces is different. | ||||
The Chess setup has pieces on the two back lines of each player's side, using both dark and light squares. The more powerful pieces are in the rear with the pawns in front. There are 16 pieces on each players side of the game board. |
The Checkers setup has each player's pieces in 3 rows, using only the dark squares. All the pieces have the same value at the start of the game. There are 12 pieces on each player's side of the game board. |
|||
The Chebache board layout shown below has larger squares than Chess and Checkers and the setup of the pieces is simple. The numbers on the pieces show how many are stacked together. For each player, the King piece (with the red dot) and a stack of 4 pieces begin from Start. The other 8 pieces are stacked along the path of movement, with 2 pieces on each Tivit. The Tivit marks (to the right of the game board), give directional cues for the paths and allow the option to move forward or backward from them.
